Description:

This piece began with the Black, White and Grey blocks, which were part of an improvisational exercise, based on “Score One” from Sherri Lynn Woods “Improv Handbook”. I took those blocks and considered several different ways to combine them into a larger piece, eventually experimenting with red background forms.
These gained energy and excitement as I experimented with different shapes, shades and textures of the background fabric. The contrasting curved and straight quilting patterns both unified the piece and added additional flow to the overall quilt.
