What is the Virtual Quilt Show?

VQS combines all the traditional elements of a quilt show in an online format. From the safety and comfort of home, you can enter a quilt competition, take classes, and shop your favorite vendors.

When is the Virtual Quilt Show

The Virtual Quilt Show is Nov. 9-15, 2020. All classes, shopping opportunities and quilt galleries will be available during this time at VirtualQuiltShow.com.

How do I attend the Virtual Quilt Show

Simply visit VirtualQuiltShow.com from Nov. 9-15, 2020. Check back often and follow us at Facebook.com/VirtualQuiltShow for updates on Virtual Quilt Show, the competition and class registration.

What is the cost to attend?

The Virtual Quilt Show is free to attend! Affordable classes are also available to take during VQS week.

Who is the host of Virtual Quilt Show?

The Virtual Quilt Show began in Spring 2020 when shows and events cancelled and postponed. We heard the disappointment of the quilters and heard from the vendors and educators whose livelihoods were being impacted by these closures, we at Gammill looked around to see what we might be able to do to help the quilting community.  We looked at what we have the manpower, skills and technical abilities to do. Given our skills in web design, computer programming and education we felt well posed to produce a Virtual Quilt Show for the quilting community as a whole.  Continue reading

Class & Education FAQs

How do I access my class?

To access your classes, log into the VQS Class Portal.

Portal:  VirtualQuiltShows.com

Login using the username on your VQS class email confirmations. You may log in at any time and you should see a list of your registered classes. The materials for these classes will be available Nov. 9-15.

When are classes?

Be sure to check the dates and times of your classes. Live classes are held once at a specific time. Pre-recorded classes can be accessed at any time Nov. 9-15, 2020. Pre-recorded classes do include a 30-minute Q&A session that is scheduled for a particular time. All times are central. Find your class and Q&A session times with the link below.
Remember, class materials cannot be accessed prior to 10 a.m. central Nov. 9 or after 11:59 p.m. central Nov. 15.
All VQS times are central time zone (Chicago).

What is my username?

Your username is the name that you selected upon checkout and can be found in your class confirmation email. You can also use the “forgot password” link to locate your username.

I do not have or have forgotten my password.

If you have purchased a class, go to https://virtualquiltshows.com/login/forgot_password.php and enter your username or email and select “search.” A reset link will be sent to your email.

If you have not made a purchase, you will establish your username and password when you purchase a class.

How do I access Zoom?

VQS utilizes Zoom for our live classes and Live Q&A sessions. Zoom can be accessed via your computer desktop browser or through the Zoom App. Use the video instructions to download Zoom.

 

How do I go to class/join a Zoom session for my class?

Can I take classes on my mobile device?

Classes are available on mobile devices but work best using the Mobile Device app. To download the app, click here.  Enter the website: VirtualQuiltShows.com (shows has an s) when prompted by the app.  

What time zone are the classes?

All classes and VQS events are listed in central (Chicago) time zone.

I have successfully logged in but I do not see my classes?

Classes should be listed under “Course Overview.” If you registered for Spring VQS classes, particularly using a different e-mail, it is possible you have a second account. You may wish to try logging in with a different email address. If you are still unable to access your classes, please click the “Have a Question” bubble in the bottom right of the VQS website or class portal so a member of our team can assist.

Can I access my class after Nov. 15?

No, classes are only available beginning 10 a.m. Nov. 9 and ending at 11:59 p.m. Nov. 15. All times are central.

I have a question about class materials or I would like to contact the instructor.

Each class features a Q&A Forum where you can ask questions. leave messages for the instructor, and hold class discussion. The forum will only be open Nov. 9-15, 2020.

I do not have an account on the class portal. What do I do?

An account will automatically be created when you complete a class purchase.

To reset your password, go to https://virtualquiltshows.com/login/forgot_password.php and enter your username or email and select “search.” A reset link will be sent to your email.

How do classes at VQS work?

When is class registration?

Registration closes at 4 p.m. CST Nov. 15.

What is the class registration fee?

Class prices are based on approximate class length and are $40 per 90 minutes. Some classes may also have a kit that is required. You will be able to purchase these supplies during class registration and checkout.

What classes will be offered?

Classes are available for all types of quilters! Class topics include piecing, applique, projects, longarm quilting and much more.

I registered but did not receive a confirmation e-mail.

Please allow up to two hours for the registration email to arrive and please check your spam/junk mail. If your confirmation has not arrived after two hours, please message [email protected] or use the chat feature for assistance.

I can't click an option with my iPad or iPhone.

If you click the smaller A repeatedly, the page reshapes repeatedly as the text size changes.  Perhaps you can reach the button now.  If that doesn’t work, try making text LARGER by clicking the bigger A.

Quilt Entry FAQs (Quilt Entries are Now Closed)

What is the deadline to enter the competition?

The deadline is midnight Oct. 5, 2020.

Who will judge the quilts?

The quilts will be judged by three category judges.  Meet the judges by clicking here.

The quilts will be judged by viewing high quality photos submitted by the quilter.  The quilts will be judged by overall impact and precision of work. First place winners in an Aspiring Category will also be entered into the Master category for judging.  Quilters will receive a ranking in each area, and judges comments when submitted.

Viewer’s Choice will be voted on by attendees of the quilt show.  One vote per attendee.

When will winners be announced?

Winners will be announced during our online awards ceremony at 4 p.m. central Nov. 12.
