Description:
The inspiration for this quilt came from the 10-year anniversary of my guild. I approached the theme “ten” from a geometry angle, in line with my design aesthetic. I designed a pattern with 10-fold symmetry (inspired by the beautiful patterns found in Islamic art) on paper and then cut it up to obtain the shapes for EPP. For the quilting, I let the design guide me. A fun, unintended effect was the emergence of the “X” (the roman sign for ten). The concentric rings in the center remind me of growth rings, so there’s another reference to time.
