Swans Mate for Life
Swans Mate for Life
Pieced & Quilted By:
Bridget O’Flaherty
Description:
Every fall the Tundra Swans come to the local waterways nearby for the winter. They are so lovely to see, they mate for life, my late partner and I would always stop to watch them. This quilt was crafted after he passed; an homage, a reminder. I up-cycled the background fabric and hand dyed it with Indigo, walnut and and iron mordant. The swans sat unfinished for many months, waiting to be filled in. Once I was happy with the background, having captured the dusky fog of an early fall evening, I was able to complete the swans.
