Wheel of Scraps
Wheel of Scraps
Pieced & Quilted By:
Robin Wacker
Description:
I took this class At Quilt Wyoming I thought this pattern was so unusual and reminded me of the historical site medicine wheel in Wyoming. I kept the spokes gray because of I wanted it to look like rocks. I picked the background fabric so that all the colors in the spokes would jump out and kind of reminded me of the grasses that grow up around the medicine wheel. After I had this all appliqué down onto the background fabric I decided that these open spaces needed lots of feathers. Working with the digitizer and explaining how I want the feathers to be and how I wanted them to circle around and be like wheels.

Techniques:
The spokes on this quilt was Machine peace Then the spokes were hand appliqué down. Working with a pattern designer came up with the quilting patterns. They were then digitized and I then quilted the quilt using two batting’s one is a 70/30 and the other was a wool batting. I wanted the feathers to stand out.
