The Bluesy Christmas Wall Hanging was created to offer a different Christmas palette from the traditional colors of red and green. The center squares are from Robert Kaufman Holiday Flourish Christmas collection, while the other fabrics in the quilt were matched from various collections. The effect is a stunning array of royal blue, pearlescent light blue, light blue w/purple swirl, bright white with silver metallic in scroll design, royal blue with multi-color blue w/silver metallic snowflakes, ornate blue and silver ornaments, royal and light blue checks interspersed with silver metallic threads and gorgeous blues/purples/silvers making up four different designs in the center squares. Each square has been machine embroidered with 40 wt Sulky silver metallic thread in different triple run embroidery designs, chosen to compliment, but not overwhelm the fabric design in the square. Delicate blue with silver metallic swirl sashing separates and frames each square along with ornate silver metallic “lace look” edging. 40 wt Superior silver thread was chosen for the gentle wave design quilted on the inner, middle and outer borders of white, blue pearlescent and navy snowflake fabrics. Each of the border corners are anchored by a square of ornate ornaments fabric and finally the binding surrounds the quilt in a graceful, scallop shape. The bias-cut, double fold binding is stitched by a small serpentine stitch in 40 wt silver thread by Superior. The quilt back is a refreshing change from typical solid backing or patchwork designs….an array of elaborate blue and silver ornaments, matching the border squares on the quilt front. The quilt size makes it perfect for a Christmas wall-hanging or mini quilt throw.
