Homage to Ms. Erulkar
Pieced & Quilted By:
Qurrat Thakur
Description:
This piece is dedicated to my middle school teacher, Ms. Erulkar, who taught me the art of crewel work embroidery. The center piece was originally a doily and was embroidered by me in 1985 as part of my 7th grade home economics project. I decided to use this vintage linen to make a wall hanging. I used dupioni silk as the surround. All hand guided stationary machine quilting. I used two layers of batting-wool+cotton. Beaded knife-edge finish.
