Description:
Our Lady of the Agave combines my interests in the Feminine Divine and the landscapes and flora of the Borderlands. In this time of stress and uncertainty we need both traditional notions of help — and Our Lady of Guadalupe is one icon whose compassion is her gift to humanity. This version of Our Lady is meant to call on both her compassion and her strength and persistence. The agave — Century Plant – grows for years in drought and storm until it puts up a 15 foot flower stalk, harnessing beauty and providing all the local pollinators with sustenance.

Techniques:
Fused, raw edge appliqué, pieced, hand and machine stitched. Included found fabrics, vintage embroidery, surface designed fabrics and iPad designed fabrics.
