Painted Ponies
Painted Ponies
Pieced & Quilted By:
Lisa Fryxell
Description:
I’m drawn to the art of Native Americans. The horses in this quilt are inspired by drawings and paintings on used ledger pages. I find the horses’ abstractions really capture the movement and spirit of the horses. I’ve added traditional designs to each of the horses. Corner designs are reminiscent of feathers on arrows. The narrow outer borders depict strings of beadwork and the wide borders show colorful dragonflies. Dragonflies have a spiritual meaning for me. The background quilting is based on three different pottery decorations. All the quilting was done on a Janome 6600. I do all my pattern design on a Mac with Affinity Design software.
